People over the age of 60 are at a higher risk of having a serious COVID-19 case according to WHO reports. The highest risk of mortality is in people over 80 years of age. Approximately 15 per cent of people in that age group died of the disease. Coronaviruses are a wide family of viruses that cause disease from common cold to more serious diseases. A novel coronavirus is a new strain unexplained in humans beforehand. Coronaviruses are zoonotic which means that they are spread between animals and humans. Detailed investigations found that SARS-CoV was being transmitted to humans from cats. Several known coronaviruses circulate in animals not yet infected by humans. Respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and difficulty breathing are common signs of infection. In more severe cases, pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death can result from infection. It is believed that the source of coronavirus is a “wet market” in Wuhan which sold both dead and live animals including fish and birds. These markets pose an increased risk of viruses moving from animals to humans as it is difficult to maintain hygiene standards if live animals are housed and butchered on site. They are usually tightly packed too. The animal source of the new outbreak has not yet been confirmed but it is suspected that the original host is bats. Bats were not sold at the Wuhan market but may have infected live chickens or other animals sold there. Lost of companies are being affected by the virus such as plane company’s, phone manufactures and small businesses in China. I personally think people are overacting because there is only a 15% death rate
